Getting Help to Find a New or Better Job

Private job agencies - They provide job referrals for people looking for a job. They are usually free of charge but some may charge a fee. They can be found in your local phone book. Many specialize in specific jobs, like office positions.

Government job agencies - They provide free job referral service to anyone looking. They post openings in many areas of work.

Public schools - Schools usually have job boards or job counselors who will help their students get a job.

Friends and relatives - They are a very good source of information for a job. A boss may hire a relative or friend of an employee based on personal recommendation.

Help Wanted signs - These are invitations for people to come apply for a job. These are common in stores and restaurants.

Classified Ads - The newspaper has a section devoted to available jobs. Taking the time to go through them can have great results for you.

Job magazines - These are free magazines where many companies advertise their openings. It's a good idea to use them when looking for a job.

Internet - There are many places on the Internet that will help you get a job at no cost to you. You don't have to be a computer expert.

Education - If you want a better job, your level of education will help. More education usually means a better job.

English - There is no question, in the United States, the better your English, the better the job.
